Seven criteria for choosing a digital marketing agency in Dubai

Who wrote this, and why it matters

Dubai Prod is a digital marketing and PR agency in Dubai. We are not going to publish a ranked list with ourselves at the top — those lists are written by the agencies that appear in them, which is exactly why they are worth so little to you. What follows is the set of questions we would want a client to ask us, and the answers that should worry you. Use it on us too.

Search for a digital marketing agency in Dubai and you will find several hundred, each claiming to be award-winning, data-driven and results-focused. The words are free, so everyone uses them. The difference between the agency that grows your business and the one that bills you for twelve months of activity reports is not visible on a homepage.

It is visible in the answers to about seven questions. Here they are, along with what a good answer sounds like.

The seven things that actually separate agencies

01

Proof of work in your market, with numbers

Not a logo wall. Three campaigns in your sector, what the agency was asked to do, what it did, and what changed. An agency that has moved the needle for a Dubai restaurant can usually do it again. One that has only done it for software companies in Europe is guessing here.

02

Who actually does the work

In Dubai the gap between the people who pitch and the people who deliver is the most common complaint there is. Ask for names, seniority and location of the team on your account, how much is subcontracted — then ask to meet them before you sign.

03

Reporting you can audit yourself

You should hold admin access to your own Analytics, Search Console, ad accounts and social profiles, in your company name. If reporting lives only inside the agency dashboard, you cannot verify it and you cannot take it with you.

04

Channel fit, not a channel menu

Every agency lists every service. Few are strong at more than two or three. Ask which channel they would drop from your plan and why — a good answer shows they are thinking about your result rather than your budget.

05

Arabic and English that reads naturally

Translated-after-the-fact Arabic is obvious to Arabic speakers and quietly costs you credibility. If any part of your audience speaks Arabic, ask to see work written in Arabic, not translated into it.

06

Contract terms that let you leave

Twelve-month lock-ins with no performance break are common and rarely in your favour. Three-month initial term, clear notice, and ownership of accounts and creative on exit is fair. Agencies confident in their work agree to it.

07

Readiness for AI search

A growing share of buying research starts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI summaries rather than on a results page. Ask how they get a brand cited in those answers. If the question is new to them, their playbook is years out of date.

What to ask on the first call

Proposals are written to be persuasive. Conversations are harder to stage. Ask these, and listen for whether the answer is specific or smooth:

  • Which three clients in my sector can I speak to directly?
  • Who will do the work, what is their seniority, and where do they sit?
  • Will all accounts be registered in my company's name?
  • What would you remove from this proposal if the budget were cut by a third?
  • What does month one look like, and what should I expect to see by month four?
  • What happens to the work, the creative and the data if I leave in six months?

The last one matters more than it sounds. An agency's attitude to you leaving tells you how it expects to keep you.

Five warning signs

Guaranteed rankings

Nobody controls Google. A guarantee means either a keyword nobody searches, or a method that eventually costs you.

Reporting only in their dashboard

If you cannot open Analytics or Search Console and see the same number, you are being told a story.

Percentages with no names

"We grew traffic 400%" from a base of nothing is arithmetic, not achievement.

Bought backlinks

Cheap link packages are still sold widely here. They do not work, and the mess takes months to live down.

No questions about your margins

An agency that never asks what a customer is worth to you is optimising for clicks, not for your business.

Apply criterion one to us

The first test on the list is proof of work in your market. Here is ours — four Dubai businesses, each with the brief, the build and the result written up in full. Judge them the way the list says to.

More of it sits in the full portfolio, and we will put you in touch with any of these clients directly if you ask.

What good work costs in Dubai

Budget is where most of these relationships go wrong, usually because the scope was never priced honestly. As a rough guide: a single channel handled properly by someone experienced starts around AED 8,000 a month. Multi-channel work with a dedicated team, production and reporting sits between AED 20,000 and AED 45,000. Below about AED 5,000 you are buying shared junior time, outsourced delivery, or both.

The number itself matters less than what it buys. Ask for the hours, the named people and the deliverables behind the figure, then compare those rather than the totals. We broke the same exercise down for PR specifically in our guide to PR costs in Dubai, and the logic transfers.

Where we fit, honestly

Dubai Prod is strong on PR and earned media, content and video production, and getting brands cited in AI search. We are a reasonable fit if you want those things done by the people who pitched them. We are a poor fit if you need a large paid-media team managing seven-figure ad budgets — there are specialists in this city who do that better, and you should hire them.

If you want to judge us by the standard above: our work is here, our digital marketing services and PR and media relations are described in detail, and we will give you client references in your sector on the first call. Accounts are always registered in your name.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the best digital marketing agency in Dubai?

Judge on evidence rather than claims. Ask for three campaigns in your sector with the numbers attached, find out who will actually do the work day to day, and insist on reporting you can audit yourself in Google Analytics and Search Console. An agency that cannot show you a real result in your market is selling you a pitch, not a service.

What should a digital marketing agency cost in Dubai?

Retainers in Dubai typically run from AED 8,000 a month for a single channel handled properly to AED 45,000 and above for multi-channel work with dedicated staff. Anything under AED 5,000 a month usually means shared junior resource or outsourced delivery. Price the scope, not the headline figure.

Should I hire a Dubai agency or an international one?

For the UAE market, local matters more than most agencies admit: Arabic and English copy that reads naturally, knowledge of which publications and platforms people here actually use, and someone in your timezone when a campaign needs changing. International agencies win on scale; local ones win on relevance.

How long before a digital marketing agency shows results?

Paid channels can show signal within two to four weeks. SEO and content realistically take four to eight months before meaningful organic traffic appears, longer in competitive categories. Any agency promising first-page rankings in 30 days is describing something that does not happen in a competitive market.

What are the warning signs of a bad agency in Dubai?

Guaranteed rankings, reporting only through their own dashboard, no named person doing the work, case studies with percentages but no company names, long lock-in with no exit for non-performance, and buying backlinks. Each one is a reason to ask harder questions.
